Serbia objects to "14-point proposals" on Kosovo status
VIENNA, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Serbia objects to the "14-point proposals" on Kosovo's status drawn up by the Troika of the United States, Russia and the European Union, Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said here on Monday during the ongoing Kosovo talks.
The proposals, first discussed in October in Vienna, call for internationally-supervised independence for Kosovo.
Serbia is ready to offer autonomy to Kosovo, and retain sovereignty over the province, the minister said.
He urged the parties in the Kosovo status talks to produce a document to rule out a "unilateral declaration of independence" by the Kosovo side.
As the fourth round of Kosovo talks, the meetings are not likely to produce a final agreement on the status of Kosovo before Dec. 10, political analysts said.
Kosovo, which is Serbia's southern breakaway province, has been run by the U.N. since mid-1999, when NATO troops drove out Serbian forces fighting ethnic Albanian separatists.
