Amanda Bynes is our favorite funny girl.

We loved her on Nickelodeon's All That and The Amanda Show and in this summer's hit Hairspray.

Now, she's got a new gig as a fashion designer.

Bynes debuted Dear by Amanda Bynes, a new line of clothing and accessories at Steve & Barry's, this month. She's following on the heels of fellow fashion princess Sarah Jessica Parker, who launched her line, Bitten, at Steve & Barry's earlier this year.

Bynes is hoping you'll love her hoodies and jeans, but most of all love the price. Every piece in the 228-item collection is $19.98 or less.

We chatted with Bynes about her new line:

Seems like every celeb has a clothing line. Why did you want one?

I've loved to draw and paint, and I always wanted to be a fashion designer. But it wasn't something I was actively pursuing. Steve & Barry's contacted me, and I like that everything is affordable. So it seemed like the perfect time to live out my design dream.

Did you know what you wanted in your clothing line?

I've always loved hoodies, jeans and T-shirts. That's definitely where I jumped in and started designing at home. I wanted shirts with cute stars and hearts on them. I wanted feminine, young stuff, even though I'm 21. I still love those girlie clothes."

Is there a celebrity whose fashion style you love?

Sarah Jessica Parker. She always looks really classy and pretty. Other than her, I just wear what looks comfortable. I'm not trying to be a fashion icon. I like clothes, and I like playing with fashion.

What's your favorite fashion item?

It's a mixture of shoes and purses. I don't have one favorite, but now I have all Steve & Barry's stuff. I love the hoodies, T-shirts, jeans and little dresses.

Where did the name of line — Dear by Amanda Bynes — come from?

I wanted something memorable and sweet. It started with a drawing of a deer. I changed the "deer" to "dear." You know, something that's dear to you.

Didn't you just love the vintage clothes in your latest movie, Hairspray?

I grew up in musical theater, and it was fun to do a movie version of a musical. I love the '60s styles of clothes, but some just aren't that practical.

What's your next film project?

Sydney White. It's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, but it's set in college. There are seven dorks, instead seven dwarfs. Hopefully you'll like it.

Now, you're an adult, is it hard to get away from teen roles?

I've been very blessed to work in the business. Even if I play kid roles, I'll be happy doing that.

What's your advice to young girls about looking fashionable?

It's all about confidence. When I put on my favorite outfit, it definitely puts me in a better mood and it makes it feel like it's a good day. So wear clothes that can make you feel good.
