Panama, Brazil agree to promote biofuel co-op
PANAMA, August 10 (Xinhua) -- Panama's President Martin Torrijos and his visiting Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Friday agreed to boost cooperation in biofuel.
In an accord, both countries agreed to "designate a work team to explore cooperation and technological possibilities in that sector (biofuel), according to national priorities," Panama Foreign Ministry said in a communique.
"The task force will facilitate the technological transfer and promote the biofuel production and consumption, especially ethanoland bio-diesel," the communique said.
Lula and Torrijos also agreed on the "bovine genetic technical assistance" project, the fight against hunger and poverty, and the promotion of social protection.
These accords and memorandums were signed by Panamanian Foreign Minister Samuel Lewis Navarro and his Brazilian counterpart, CelsoAmorim.
The two countries also signed three juridical-issue treaties, including an extradition treaty, said the communique.
