German carmakers see buoyant sales in July
BERLIN, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Germany's leading luxury carmakers have seen buoyant sales in July, figured released on Monday showed.
Volkswagen said the deliveries of Audi rose to about 81,000 vehicles in July compared to 74,296 for the same period of last year, up 9.2 percent.
The Europe's biggest carmaker said overall sales of Audi have jumped 9.7 percent since January, totaling 590,200 vehicles.
"We have continued our growth in all the key markets worldwide," said Audi chief sales director Ralph Weyler when releasing the statistics.
He noted that particularly strong deliveries came from China, where sales surged as high as 37 percent in July.
Earlier this month, Munich-based BMW said it expects an increase of 20 percent for its sales in July, and an overall growth of 6.0 percent for the period from January to July.
In the meantime, Daimler Chrysler flagship Mercedes-Benz said its deliveries rose 1.2 percent in July, standing at 93,800 units, and its overall growth hit 1.7 percent from January to July.
Analysts believed that the comprehensive rise of car sales has shaken off worries about a surging euro and higher oil prices.
